Visit Monaco with our French students at alpha.b

A language study vacation in our French school Alpha b on the French Riviera could not be a completed without going to Monaco. By the way, what is Monaco? Is it a state? A city? Why is it a ruling prince and not a king? What is the official language?

All these questions will find their answers during our excursion into the city with students from the school between the view on the sea, the visit of the casino and the palace!

After your French class, take an afternoon to discover the luxe of a unique city-state. Only 25 minutes away from Nice by train, the appeal of the city will become obvious when you will arrive in front of the casino with its rows of sport cars and luxury brands pavilions. Take a minute to enter the casino to admire the work of the architect that also built the opera of Paris, before going to the terraces behind the monument and enjoy a stroll with a breathtaking view on the sea that only few people know about. After the tour of the port and marina with its luxurious yachts, it will be time to walk along the sea coast and climb up the Rock of Monaco! At the top, beside a lovely view of the marina and Monte Carlo, you could choose to visit the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco built in the side of a cliff. This museum hosts the collections of Albert I, keen maritime researcher, and a real aquarium with more than 6000 marine species of animals.

To end this cultural tour, it is obvious that you will have to see the Prince’s Palace of Monaco, official residence of Albert II. You will then understand how his family came to power more than 7 centuries ago.

The way down the Rock will mark the end of the visit with once again an astonishing view on the sea, to end your trip with a perfect image of the city.

Apprendre le français à Nice : témoignage de Hiro, Japon

Ce mois-ci à l’école alpha.b, nous avons le plaisir de recevoir Hiro, une jeune étudiante japonaise qui a gagné la bourse IALC au Japon pour apprendre le français à Nice.

Hiro est arrivée à Nice il y a 10 jours et partage son expérience au quotidien sur les réseaux sociaux.

Nous lui laissons la parole sur notre blog en français et en japonais :

Je suis bien arrivée à Nice.
Il fait très chaud donc ça me rappelle le Sénégal.
J’apprends le français à l’école français « Alpha.b » pour 4 semaines.
Le premier jour, il avait un examen de évaluation de niveau.
Mon niveau est B1+B2.
Il y a 9 élèves, dont 4 Russes.

ニースに着いて２日経ちました。
最高気温は３０度で、日差しがとても熱いです。
旧市街や海沿いには多くの観光客がいて、それぞれ皆楽しんでいます。
私はこれから４週間 »Alpha.b »という語学学校でフランス語を学びます。
初日はレベル分けテストがあり、私はB1+B2のクラスとなりました。
クラスメイトは９人中４人がロシア人です。

En France, aujourd’hui, il y avait la Fête de la musique.
Il se tient le 21 juin de chaque année, le jour le plus long de l’année.
Jack long, Ministre de la Culture, a lancé la 1ère fête en 1982.
J’y suis allée il y avait beaucoup de jeunes et musiciens.

フランスでは本日、国内各地で音楽祭が開催されていました。
この音楽祭は毎年夏至の日に開催されるそうです。
私も会場の近くまで行ってみました。チケットを持っていなかったので会場へは入場できませんでしたが(無料だが１ヶ月程前に予約が必要)、チケットの無い観光客と一緒にバリケード外で楽しみました。

À propos des cours :
Le 1ère cours du matin commence à 9:00 jusqu’à 10:40
Le 2eme cours commence à 11:00 jusqu’à 12:20
Les classes sont faites au bon rythme la grammaire, le lire, le jeu, la chanson etc…

語学学校の授業について
午前中の授業は2コマに分かれています。
内容は文法や、短い記事を読んで感想を言い合う、といった感じです。書くことよりも会話に重点を置いている気がします。どの内容もテンポよく進みます。
先日はカラオケについてそれぞれの国の事情を発言する機会がありました(どの国にもあるのですね！)。日本人はクラスに１人なので、全て独断と偏見で語ることができます。
質問した者勝ちなので、他の生徒に負けないよう発言しています。

*Stationnement en file
Si vous voulez conduire une voiture en France, la stationnement en double file est indispensable. Parfois, je vois un spectacle étonnant. Comment-ils se garent et comment-ils sortent ? Je respect les français qui ont la super technique de conduite…

縦列駐車について
フランスでは道路の両端に縦列駐車で車を止めるのが一般的ですが、時々面白い光景を目にします。どうやって駐車し、この後どう車を発進させるのか？左右の車はなぜこんなに寄せたのか？疑問は残りますが、私にはこんな駐車の仕方は絶対にできません。基本的に運転は荒いですが、駐車技術の高いフランス人を尊敬する光景でした。

*Marché du matin
Du mardi jusqu’au dimanche matin, il y a le marché des produits frais à coté de la mer. Le lundi, il y a le marché des antiquités.

マルシェについて
火曜日～日曜日の朝には、海沿いの広場で生鮮食品のマルシェが開催されます。月曜日には骨董品売り場となります。元々は漁師がこの場所で魚を売っていたそうです。魚を期待して行ってみましたが、ほとんどが八百屋でした。旅行者が多いためか、店員さんは英語で対応してくれます。すぐ隣からは、イタリア語でのやりとりが聞こえてきました。

Confiserie Florian et Cap de Nice

L’institut linguistique de français alpha b propose toujours des activités gratuites pour ses étudiants lorsqu’ils n’ont pas de cours. L’une de nos activités préférées est la visite de la confiserie Florian suivie d’une balade le long du Cap de Nice.

La confiserie Florian a longtemps été associée à la parfumerie Fragonard, notamment car le fils du créateur de Fragonard est le premier à avoir ouvert la confiserie proche de Cagnes-sur-Mer, non loin de Nice. Maintenant situé sur le port de Nice, la confiserie propose une visite guidée pour découvrir la fabrication de bonbons, chocolats, confitures, fruits confits de toutes les couleurs… de quoi donner faim à tout le monde ! Bien sûr, la boutique en fin de visite laisse à tous les étudiants le plaisir d’acheter ce qu’ils auront préféré.

La visite de la confiserie est suivie d’une une balade le long du Cap de Nice. En partant toujours du port, pratiquement à la sortie de la confiserie, la promenade commence le long des bateaux et yachts, et se poursuit tranquillement au fil de l’eau, à l’abri des voitures sur un petit chemin de pierres blanches, pour venir longer le Mont Boron. Pensez à prendre une bouteille d’eau, une casquette et de bonnes chaussures. On évite de marcher en tongs de rocher en rocher !

Entre Nice et Villefranche-sur-Mer, le cap de Nice est appelé sentier du littoral et est une promenade appréciée des Niçois, et peu connue des touristes. Sur le chemin, on peut voir le château de l’anglais et son architecture d’inspiration indienne (!), mais on s’attardera beaucoup plus le panorama maritime. Cette randonnée pédestre donne à voir un paysage magnifique et le moyen d’apprécier la clarté de la mer contre les rochers blancs et des vues uniques sur Nice et Villefranche-sur-Mer.

Les plus ambitieux pourront même se baigner au début de la balade ou au retour, en choisissant une petite crique tranquille et un rocher pour poser sa serviette et apprécier un bain de soleil niçois.

Et si on jouait à la pétanque ?

Que serait un voyage dans le sud de France sans jouer au célèbre jeu de la pétanque ? L’école linguistique de français Alpha b ne vous propose pas seulement des cours, mais veut aussi vous faire découvrir la culture française dans son ensemble. Prenez donc une après-midi pour venir parfaire votre vocabulaire de sudiste français en jouant à la pétanque avec les autres étudiants de l’école sur la colline du château à Nice.

La pétanque est un jeu, mais est aussi considérée comme un sport, d’ailleurs candidate pour intégrer les Jeux Olympiques de Paris en 2024 ! Mais qu’est-ce que c’est alors ?

La pétanque est avant tout un jeu très simple, qui consiste à lancer des boules de manière précise. Chaque joueur dispose de deux à trois boules en acier (ou en plastique pour les enfants). Le terrain est officiellement appelé un boulodrome. Cependant, nombre de personnes choisissent un simple terrain plat sur petit gravier pour jouer.

On trace une ligne ou un cercle au sol à ne pas dépasser par les joueurs devant le terrain. Une petite boule en bois, appelé le « cochonnet » est lancée au début du jeu au sol, à quelques mètres des joueurs. C’est vers ce cochonnet que toutes les boules des joueurs vont vouloir se rapprocher : le but est de finir le plus proche possible du cochonnet. Chaque joueur va alors se placer derrière le trait tracé au sol (ou dans le cercle), et se placer à pieds joints pour tirer sa boule sans élan. C’est d’ailleurs de là d’où vient le nom du jeu : en provençal, « ped tanca », pieds tanqués (pieds joints, fixés au sol) s’est contracté en « pétanque ».

Une fois que chaque joueur a lancé une boule, la personne étant le plus loin du cochonnet a le droit de lancer une seconde boule, et ainsi de suite. Il est alors intéressant de choisir s’il vaut mieux « pointer », c’est-à-dire lancer sa boule le plus près du cochonnet, ou bien « tirer », qui consiste à viser la boule d’un adversaire pour la dégager le plus loin possible. Vous pourrez alors entendre cette expression célèbre lorsqu’on joue à la pétanque, « alors, tu tires ou tu pointes ? »

La pétanque est très appréciée dans le Sud de la France, ainsi que par les touristes voulant se relaxer l’été. Comme nous à Alpha b, les français aiment prendre leur apéritif, aussi appelé apéro, durant leur partie. On peut alors boire un petit verre de rosé ou de soda en attendant son tour pour jouer, et apprécier le soleil de Nice le temps d’une après-midi radieuse ou d’une soirée détendue.

Comment construire une phrase avec un pronom relatif en français ?

Ce mois-ci sur notre blog et pour nos cours de français gratuits, nous allons vous proposer une série de 3 vidéos et articles sur le pronom relatif. Ce cours est réalisé par l’un de nos professeurs de français à alpha.b : Christian.

Qu’est-ce qu’un pronom relatif ? Où est-il placé dans la phrase ?

Aujourd’hui nous allons répondre à ces deux questions.

Qu’est-ce qu’un pronom ?

C’est un mot outil qui sert à remplacer un ou d’autres mots dans une phrase.

Par exemple :

Les étudiants écoutent le professeur. Ils écoutent le professeur.

« Ils » est un pronom et il remplace le mot « Les étudiants. »

Aujourd’hui, nous allons nous concentrer sur les pronoms relatifs.

Ils sont un peu particulier parce qu’ils vont introduire une nouvelle information dans la phrase.

Par exemple :

Les étudiants écoutent le professeur.

Les étudiants sont intelligents.

On veut réunir toutes les informations des deux phrases en une seule, et on ne veut pas répéter « Les étudiants ».

On va donc utiliser le pronom relatif.

Cela nous donne :

Les étudiants qui sont intelligents écoutent le professeur.

On retrouve cette logique avec tous les pronoms relatifs, même avec les plus difficiles comme le : DONT.

Un petit conseil : écrivez vos 2 phrases uniques, repérez les éléments qui apparaissent deux fois, positionnez votre pronom et vérifiez que toutes les informations sont dans votre phrase unique.

Comment construire une phrase avec un pronom relatif ?

Il y a une méthode très simple.

Au début de la phrase, on met l’élément qui se répète :

Phrase 1 : Les étudiants écoutent le professeur.

Phrase 2 : Les étudiants sont intelligents.

Puis pour créer notre phrase, on commence par :

Les étudiants
on ajoute le pronom unique, ici il s’agit du pronom QUI
on prend les éléments qui restent de la phrase 1
on prend les éléments qui restent de la phrase 2

Et voici le secret pour bien construire ses phrases avec un pronom relatif !

Neue Anerkennung für alpha.b Sprachschule : Bildungszeit

Bildungszeit mit alpha.b in Nizza

Alpha.b ist mit Bescheid vom 13.06.2018 offiziell als Bildungseinrichtung nach dem Bildungszeitgesetz Baden-Württemberg anerkannt. Diese Anerkennung berechtigt uns Französisch Sprachkurse in Nizza als Bildungsmaßnahmen im Sinne des BzG BW durchzuführen.

Was ist Bildungszeit?

Im Juni 2015 ist das Bildungszeitgesetz in Kraft getreten. Dies ermöglicht nun auch Beschäftigten in Baden-Württemberg eine Freistellung für berufliche Weiterbildung bei ihrem Arbeitgeber zu beantragen. Hier können bis zu 5 Tage beantragt werden und somit eine Woche Sprachaufenthalt in Nizza geplant werden.

Cours de langue française

Welche Voraussetzung muss eine Französisch Sprachschule in Frankreich mitbringen, um als Bildungseinrichtung gemäß des Bildungszeitgesetz Baden Württemberg anerkannt zu werden?

Die Sprachschule muss seit mindestens zwei Jahren am Markt bestehen. Sie muss Französisch Sprachprogramme systematisch planen, organisieren und durchführen. Die Französisch Sprachschule muss darüber hinaus ein Gütesiegel vorlegen, welches vom Wirtschaftsministerium anerkannt und veröffentlicht ist, um die Qualität der Bildungsarbeit nachzuweisen. Die Sprachschule verpflichtet sich, dass Veranstaltungen, die sie als Bildungszeit-Angebote durchführt, den Vorgaben des BzG BW entsprechen.

Eaquals als anerkanntes Gütesiegel für alpha.b

In den Anfängen der neuen Gesetzgebung war die Liste der vom Wirtschaftsministerium anerkannten Gütesiegel eher auf verschiedene DIN EN ISO beschränkt. Da jedoch auch bei Beschäftigten in Baden-Württemberg großes Interesse an Weiterbildung in Sprachkursen im Ausland besteht, haben Sprachschulen die Initiative ergriffen, gleichwertige Gütesiegel zur Prüfung beim Wirtschaftsministerium vorzulegen. Stand heute wurden sowohl British Council sowie auch Eaquals als anerkannte Gütesiegel in die Liste aufgenommen.

Bildungsurlaub für einen Sprachkurs in Frankreich

Wir freuen uns bei alpha.b nun auch Beschäftigten aus Baden-Württemberg die Möglichkeit zu bieten bezahlte Freistellung für unsere Französischkurse in Frankreich beantragen zu können.

An dieser Stelle erinnern wir aber auch noch mal daran, dass unsere Französisch Intensivkurse in anderen Bundesländern schon seit vielen Jahren als Bildungsveranstaltung im Sinne des jeweiligen Bildungsurlaubgesetzes anerkannt sind. Alpha.b verfügt über gültige Bildungsurlaubs-Anerkennungen für folgende Bundesländer: Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen, Schleswig-Holstein, Rheinland-Pfalz und Niedersachsen.

Let’s play some Pétanque!

What would be a trip in the south of France without its most famous game of Pétanque? The linguistic school Alpha b doesn’t just offer French classes, but also want to show you the French culture in its whole. Spend an afternoon working on your southern French vocabulary while playing Pétanque with the other students at school on the hill of the castle in Nice.

Pétanque is a game but is also considered a sport in France. Besides, it is now a candidate to integrate the 2024 Paris summer Olympics! So, what is this game then?

Pétanque is a really simple game at its core. It is basically throwing balls while aiming for a special one. Each player has two to three lead balls (but there are plastic ones for children). The dedicated facility to play pétanque is officially called a “boulodrome”. However, most people playing for fun can choose any ground or field, as long as it has a flat surface and a bit of gravel.

A line or a circle must be traced on the ground to define the place to stand and throw the balls. A small wooden ball, called the “cochonnet” (“little piggy”) is rolled on the ground at the very beginning of the game, a few meters away from the players. Each player is going to get behind the line or inside the circle on the ground, and keep their feet together to throw their first ball the closer they could to the cochonnet. The name of the game comes from this position: in provencal, “ped tanca” means keeping their feet together, fixed, planted on the ground. It has evolved into the word “Pétanque”.

Once each player has thrown their first ball, the owner of the ball farther away from the cochonnet can throw their second ball first. Then the second person farther away throws their ball, etc. It is then interesting to choose if you have to “pointer” which means throw your ball the closer possible to the cochonnet, or if you have to “tirer” which is aiming for the ball of an adversary to get it out the way. You could then hear the typical saying when you play Pétanque, “alors, tu tires ou tu pointes ?”

Pétanque is well-liked in the south of France, but also by the tourists wanting to relax during their summer holidays. Like us in Alpha b, French people like to have an “aperitif”, or “apéro” for short, while playing, which means that you get to drink a cool rosé or soda while you’re waiting for your turn to play, and enjoy the warm weather of Nice during a sunny afternoon or a comfortable night.

Nach Monaco kommen Sie sehr einfach. Ihre Sprachschule in Nizza kann Ihnen gerne Bus- und Bahnzeiten heraussuchen. Monaco ist nur 30 Minuten von Nizza entfernt und zur italienischen Riviera ist es ganz nah.

Und was kann man in Monaco so alles besichtigen? Na zum Beispiel den Palast, das Automuseum des Fürsten, das Spielcasino in Monte Carlo, das Ozeanografische Museum, den Hafen (Port Hercule), die Kathedrale, den Rosengarten Prinzessin Grace, Exotischer Garten oder Japanischer Garten….

Diese Auflistung nimmt kein Ende. Wählen Sie alle Führungen in französischer Sprache, damit Sie auch bei Ihrem Besuch in Monaco weiterhin Ihr Französisch verbessern, in die französische Sprache eintauchen und Ihren Sprachaufenthalt in Frankreich zum vollen Erfolg werden lassen.

Weitere Highlights in Monaco sind die jährliche Monaco Yacht Show und das Formel 1 Rennen „Grand Prix de Monaco“. Der Große Preis von Monaco ist uns alles bekannt. Das Autorennen findet jährlich im Mai statt und führt durch die Stadt auf dem Circuit de Monaco. Der Circuit führt durch die Stadtbezirke Monte Carlo und La Condamine in Monaco.

Monaco ist natürlich weltweit als Steuerparadies und Wohnort der High Society bekannt. Wer möchte nicht schon mal in Mon aco und Monte Carlo gewesen sein?

Sie sind in einer Französisch Sprachschule in Nizza und Monaco ist gleich um die Ecke. Also nichts wie hin mit Bus, Bahn, Auto oder Roller und vom besonderen Ambiente profitieren.

Einen Tag eintauchen in die Welt der Grimaldis und von kleinen Mode-Boutiquen und Souvenir-Geschäften profitieren. Am Abend jedoch besser wieder nach Nizza fahren, denn die Hotels in Nizza sind doch wesentlich preisgünstiger als Hotels in Monaco.

Confiserie Florian and the Cap de Nice

Bank Holidays are pretty common in May in France, so the French linguistic Institut Alpha b always offers free activities to their students for these days. One of our favorites activities is the visit of the Confiserie Florian followed by a walk along the coast.

The Confiserie Florian was associated to the Perfumery Fragonard for a long time because the son of the founder of Fragonard opened the first Confiserie shop in Cagnes-sur-Mer, next to Nice. So, what is a Confiserie? It’s a place where candies, chocolates, marmalades and crystallized fruits are created and where you can buy them. There, you will have a private walking tour of the factory and of course, you will have the possibility to buy what you want at the shop at the end of the visit.

The visit of the Confiserie is followed by a walk along the Cap de Nice. Starting from the port right next to the boat and the yachts, the walk will take you away from the road and the cars to appreciate the hidden pathway around the Mont Boron on white rocks along the sea. Don’t forget to bring a cap, some water, and good walking shoes. No flip-flop on rocks!

Between Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer, the Cap de Nice is called “Sentier du littoral”, the littoral pathway, and is a stroll loved by the people of Nice and not really known by tourists. On the way, you can see the Castle of the English man with its bizarre architecture, inspired by India (!). But you will probably pay more attention to the maritime landscape in front of you. This hike will let you appreciate breathtaking views on Nice and Villefranche-sur-Mer, along with letting you enjoy the transparency of the sea and its reflection on the white rocks there.

The boldest students could even stay at any moment on the way back in one of the creeks to enjoy a bit of sunbathing on the rocks and a swim on a sunny afternoon in Nice.

IALC Workshop 2018 in Bologna, Italia

Alpha.b had the pleasure to participate once more in a workshop organised by IALC (International Association of Language Centres).

IALC is an organisation with language school members from all over the world. More than 100 schools specialised in teaching the language spoken in their county to foreign students agreed in a quality chart for language courses, accommodation, student welfare and social activities. alpha.b French language school is a IALC member school for 15 years now.

In April, for the 35th IALC Workshop, Laura and Anja (our alpha.b marketing team) had the pleasure to go to lovely Bologna where the workshop was hosted by A.L.C.E. Accademia Lingue e Culture Europee.

A IALC Workshop means meeting partner agencies specialised in selling language courses abroad but also make contact with new agencies for new markets. It is a kind of « speed dating ».

Every IALC member school has a table and during the 2 IALC Workshop days agencies stop by to chat and learn about new programs. So for us it was another great opportunity to talk about our French Courses in Nice and keep our agencies updated on our French language school.

But a IALC Workshop means also an additional evening program. This is not only to continue networking but also to discover and to experience the city of the hosting IALC member school.

And Bologna has a lot of highlights! Bologna is very dynamic and lively city with amazing places to visit. It is definitely a great place to go for an Italian language course. Language schools and agencies were able to discover really fantastic places and to enjoy really great Italian food.

Now there is some diet to do before summer time in Nice but it was definitely another great experience for alpha.b French language school.
