When you think of the Côte d’Azur, you probably imagine sunshine, the sea and lively terraces.

But have you ever experienced Christmas on the French Riviera?
It’s a magical time when palm trees are wrapped in fairy lights, Christmas markets pop up in the old streets, and the air is filled with the smell of warm waffles and churros… all while enjoying surprisingly mild winter weather.

In Nice, December has a charm of its own: festive, elegant, warm and full of life.
The lights on the Promenade du Paillon, the illuminated Ferris wheel, the food stalls, concerts, Provençal crèches… everything invites you to stroll and explore.

At the school, December always has a special place in our hearts.

Students from all over the world share their Christmas traditions, their favourite holiday dishes, and their childhood memories…

We learn festive vocabulary, do role-plays about holiday preparations, watch videos, discover songs, and explore French customs.

And after class, many students head out together to admire the Christmas lights, enjoy a hot drink on Place Masséna or visit the Nice Christmas Village.

🍷 At alpha-b, Beaujolais Nouveau isn’t just tasted… it’s experienced!

Every year, on the third Thursday of November, France celebrates one of its most iconic cultural traditions: the arrival of Beaujolais Nouveau.

A festive, eagerly awaited, almost magical moment that energizes the entire country.

And at alpha-b, we love keeping this tradition alive by organizing a special tasting for our students — an experience that is cultural, linguistic, and… delightfully convivial.

🍇 Beaujolais Nouveau: a truly authentic French tradition

Born in the 1950s, Beaujolais Nouveau has become much more than a simple wine. It’s a symbol of sharing — an event that brings together friends, families, neighbors, and the simply curious for a drink… or just a joyful moment.

Its official release, every third Thursday of November at 12:01 a.m., kicks off celebrations all over France: bar events, lively gatherings, spontaneous tastings, animated street conversations.

At alpha-b, we cherish this tradition because it reflects exactly what we aim to share with our students: a living culture, a warm spirit, and a genuine desire to bring people together.
